Breast Oncoplastic Consultant Surgeon

Consultant Surgeon - Breast Oncoplastic, 10PA's, Permanent position

We're looking for a dynamic individual to join our friendly surgical team. This role supports surgical teams in the delivery of safe patient care, contributing to waiting list management. Breast Surgery experience is required and specific training in any of the specialties of General Surgery.

Key responsibilities
  • Provision of a first class clinical service
  • Effective leadership of all staff engaged in the specialty
  • Sustaining and developing teaching for trainees
  • Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies
  • Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and the Trust's service plans
  • Maintaining confidence in business plans and development strategies for the specialty, division or Trust

Person Specification Knowledge
  • Expert clinical knowledge of management of elective & emergency cases within specialty.
  • Full independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
  • Training and experience in gastrointestinal endoscopy, including JAG accreditation (or equivalent) in lower & upper GI.
  • Current knowledge of best practice, NICE guidelines and evidence based practice.
  • Evidence of participation in research and publications.
Training Expected
  • Evidence of logbook to support expected surgical activity.
  • Ability to support delivery of clinical and national priorities.
  • Experience supervising doctors in training and teaching clinical & operative skills.
  • Experience designing audit projects.
  • Experience leading surgical teams.
  • Experience in innovation.
  • Experience with alternative healthcare models.
  • Experience teaching.
Academic Achievements
  • Research experience and presentations at academic forums.
  • Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical/surgical problems.
  • Publications in indexed journals.
  • Ability to supervise postgraduate research.
Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
  • CCT or CESR (CP) - within 6 months of interview.
  • European Community Rights.
  • Evidence of innovative approaches to healthcare; higher degree or master's equivalent in education, leadership or management.
