Job Description
The role 
Based at the University of Bristol Botanic Garden in Stoke Bishop, Bristol, the role holder will be involved in horticultural maintenance and development of the Botanic Garden to the highest standards.
As a scientific and conservation collection of plants you will work to make the Botanic Garden accessible to the public throughout the year. You will work with the team of dedicated staff and volunteers to help facilitate access and use of the Botanic Garden. You will work as part of a duty rota for weekends care of the collections, opening of the Botanic Garden and facilitating later opening in summer months.
What will you be doing?- Horticultural maintenance and development of the plant collections both outdoors and in extensive glasshouses, including seasonal horticultural work, operational activities, health & safety, training and compliance, engagement with volunteers, students and the public.
- Assisting at Botanic Garden festivals, activities and later opening hours.
- Passion for plants, horticulture and enjoy working with people.
- Trained in horticulture to Level 3 and above.
- A minimum of three years industry experience, including experience of working with glasshouse collections.
- Interested in developing your career in horticulture and working in a botanic garden.
- Contract type: Open ended
- Work pattern: Part time (14 hours)
- Shift pattern: Mon - Fri, plus part of staff rota for weekend working
- Grade: E
- Salary: £26,093 - £26,093 per annum pro rata
