Job Description

Our client, a well established accountancy practice in Galway, is seeking a skilled Bookkeeper / Payroll Specialist to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a practice environment, enjoys working with a diverse portfolio of clients, and is committed to delivering high quality financial and payroll services.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, including bank reconciliations, AP/AR, general ledger entries, VAT returns, and support with management accounts.
  • Liaise with clients to gather information, resolve queries, and ensure smooth delivery of bookkeeping services.
  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients in full compliance with Revenue requirements and payroll legislation.
  • Prepare and submit payroll returns, handle employee payroll queries, and maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
Requirements
  • Accounting Technician qualification (ATI or equivalent)
  • IPASS Payroll Qualification (essential)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role within an accountancy practice
  • Strong understanding of Irish payroll legislation and Revenue systems
  • Proficiency in bookkeeping and payroll software (e.g., Surf Accounts, Sage, BrightPay, or similar)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
