Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers to support us in. From sorting stock & preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service to our donors and customers - we have something to suit most people's interests. Our shop is a great place to learn new skills and share existing ones.
We are currently looking for Book Specialist volunteers to help in our shop.
Book Specialist volunteers - typical activities:- Researching and pricing books
- Attractively displaying books for sale
- Maintaining the book section of the store
- Helping and advising customers
- Undertaking general activities as needed including helping on the till where requested.
No experience is needed. Full training will be provided.
When can I volunteer?A few hours during the week/weekend - as agreed with the shop manager.
There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours, we only ask that we agree hours you are confident you can attend and that you let us know where these hours may change.

- Sorting donations for selling in the shop
- Helping customers on the shop floor
- Using the till
- No previous experience is needed
- A warm smile and a friendly outlook
- Complete training (provided) prior to starting
- Meet new people and be part of a dynamic and inclusive team
- Gain or pass on retail experience
