The BMS Engineer - International Pre-Construction is responsible for the development, coordination, and validation of Building Management System (BMS) and integrated controls solutions during the tendering and pre-construction phases of international projects. The role supports multidisciplinary design teams delivering mission-critical data centres, large-scale logistics facilities, and GMP-compliant pharmaceutical buildings. The position requires strong technical capability in controls engineering, system architecture, regulatory compliance, and commercial awareness in a pre-construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Pre-Construction & Tender Support
Review Employer's Requirements (ERs), specifications, and tender documentation.
Develop BMS concepts and system architecture aligned with project and client requirements.
Prepare technical submissions, compliance matrices, and clarifications.
Define scope of works for BMS packages and support cost estimation.
Contribute to value engineering and risk identification exercises.
BMS Engineer
Technical Engineering & Design Development
Develop control philosophies and detailed sequences of operation.
Define BMS system architecture (centralized, distributed, hybrid).
Coordinate integration of BMS with:
HVAC systems (CRAH/CRAC, chilled water, DX systems)
Electrical infrastructure (UPS, generators, switchgear
Fire alarm and life safety systems
DCIM and SCADA platforms
Review I/O schedules, network topology, and control panel configurations.
Sector-Specific Technical Scope
Data Centres:
Design controls for mission-critical cooling systems.
Support redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N, 2N+1).
Align with Uptime Institute Tier requirements where applicable.
Pharmaceutical Facilities:
Develop control strategies for cleanroom HVAC systems.
Support GMP compliance in alignment with International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering guidance.
Logistics Facilities:
Develop energy-efficient warehouse environmental control strategies.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure designs align with international standards including:
ASHRAE guidelines
Local electrical and building regulations in applicable jurisdictions
Support sustainability objectives (LEED, BREEAM or equivalent certifications).
Stakeholder Coordination
Liaise with clients, consultants, MEP designers, and control vendors.
Participate in design workshops and technical review meetings.
Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure design intent is testable and achievable
Qualifications, Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related discipline.
Minimum 5 years' experience in BMS or controls engineering.
Demonstrated experience in at least one of the following sectors:
Data centres (mission-critical environments preferred)
Pharmaceutical/GMP facilities
Industrial or logistics developments
Experience working on international projects is preferred.
