Contract summary

Contract length: Permanent
Working weeks: Term time only (33 weeks per year)
Working hours: 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The role

You will be responsible for preparing and delivering all practical work across the Biology department, including the maintenance of safety of equipment, specimens and other resources. Tasks include preparing materials for investigation in class, caring for the display organisms, checking and ordering stock, and upholding stringent health and safety standards. Your contribution to the pupil experience will be invaluable as you enable the provision of a smoothly operating and efficient environment that inspires and excites our students.

The skills

The position would be ideal for someone who has some experience of working within a biology laboratory as a student and/or a technician, is passionate about taking the initiative to provide a professional service within a safe environment and would enjoy being part of a supportive member of the team within our vibrant and historic School.

Environment

Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 835 boys study at Harrow and live in the School's 12 boarding houses. The Biology Department is housed in the brand-new Biology Schools and consists of seven teaching laboratories, one research laboratory, a seminar room, department office and large prep room. There are eight teachers supported by the senior technician and a technician.
