We are looking for a Bioinformatics Research Scientist to join our Bioinformatics team.
Title: Bioinformatics Research Scientist
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 35 per week (standard Anthony Nolan working hours)
Location: Anthony Nolan Research Institute, Research Laboratories, Hampstead, London

Job Summary
We are seeking a bioinformatics scientist with an interest in innovation to work on our internationally recognized databases, the IPD-IMGT/HLA and IPD-KIR .
The role focuses on two key areas: developing internal analysis and public deployment pipelines to enhance resilience and reproducibility, and building new public-facing tools for the databases. There may also be opportunities to contribute technical support to other projects within the team.
Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential. Additional knowledge of databases such as Oracle and MongoDB, web development skills (e.g., Flask, HTML, JavaScript), and experience with Linux environments and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) are desirable.
Essential Attributes
- Bioinformatics MSc or Computer Science BSc (or equivalent)
- Experience programming in Python
- Familiarity with SQL and MongoDB
- Experience with web development - Flask, HTML, JavaScript (desirable)
- Experience with containers - Docker, Kubernetes (desirable)
- Familiarity with Agile software development practices (desirable)
