At Babcock we're working to create a safe and secure world, together, and if you join us, you can play your part as a Bid Programme Director working as part of our Land Future Business Team.In this role, you'll drive the quality application of the end-to-end Business Winning Methodology as part of Babcock's contribution to the consortium bidding for the Integrated Combat Rotary Wing Training (ICRWT) opportunity.
The Bid Programme Director will play a pivotal leadership role in steering this large and complex bid, ensuring the seamless integration and high quality of all business winning outputs to maximise the probability of success.
The role
As a Bid Programme Director, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. This role will directly shape the success of a strategically vital defence bid, helping to deliver cutting-edge rotary wing training capabilities to international partners.
Day-to-day, you'll lead the ICRWT bid as Bid Lead, working in close partnership with the Opportunity Lead and subject matter experts across the business to design and deliver a robust, strategically aligned bid programme. From pre-qualification through to post-submission, you'll ensure the bid is effectively resourced and executed to maximise our chances of success.
- Lead and manage Babcock's bidding processusing established best practices-planning timelines, setting key milestones, coordinating critical meetings, and ensuring all deliverables are met through effective stakeholder engagement and accountability.
- Integrate Babcock's bid activitieswith the consortium Prime's programme, fostering cultural and procedural alignment to enhance collective win probability (PWin).
- Collaborate across functionsto bring together diverse expertise, ensuring high-quality business winning outputs with a clear 'golden thread' linking value proposition, solution, pricing, and deal structure.
- Act as the primary escalation pointfor the bid team on matters related to the Business Winning Methodology and programme delivery, providing guidance and resolution.
- Establish and oversee the bid management organisation, including matrix management, to ensure efficient programme delivery and resource coordination.
- Drive strategic bid development, including win strategies, competitive and capability assessments, and differentiated value propositions that strengthen the consortium's overall offering.
This role is full time 40 hours per week across a 12-month fixed term contract. We are flexible on location however will require frequent UK and EU travel to internal and external sites.
Essential experience of the Bid Programme Director
- Business Winning Expertise: Proven track record in applying recognised business winning methodologies across the full bid lifecycle, with the ability to shape strategy during early capture phases. Significant experience leading major bid programmes (CAT B or above), ideally within the defence sector and in a consortium environment.
- Leadership & Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and coordinate large, multi-functional teams in complex, high-pressure environments.
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrates strong financial and commercial awareness, with a clear understanding of how to align value propositions with customer needs and competitive positioning.
- Flexibility & Collaboration: Comfortable working internationally and across partner locations, with a collaborative mindset and the ability to integrate diverse inputs into cohesive bid outputs.
Qualifications for the Bid Programme Director
- Educated to degree level
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
