Job Title: Bid Manager

Base Location: Remote Based in the UK

Salary: £44,833 - £60,000 depending on skills and experience, annual bonus plus a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

Working Pattern: Full Time, Permanent - 37 Hours p/week

Could you be our next Bid Manager to join the team and drive this success forwards?

What will I be doing in this role?

As a key member of the Highways Electrical Estimating Team, you will play a central role in managing the entire process required to produce high-quality, competitive tender responses for our strategic customers. This role covers the full scope of bid management responsibilities, including stakeholder engagement, bid writing, and providing expert guidance on tender submissions.

Working closely with the Senior Management Team, Operational Managers, and fellow Estimating Team members, you will take ownership of delivering tenders that meet our customers' needs and reflect our commitment to excellence.

In a typical day, you could expect to be;

  • Developing and communicating clear "win" strategies for each bid, managing tenders through internal governance and ensuring compelling responses that directly improve our success rate.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts and senior managers to plan, write, and review high-quality bid content for large street lighting tenders.
  • Managing timelines and processes to ensure deadlines are met, governance requirements are followed, and submissions are delivered efficiently.
  • Coordinating across multiple functions - including Operations, HSEQ, Commercial/Legal, and Estimating - to produce cohesive, persuasive, and customer-focused submissions.
  • Maintaining consistently high standards of bid content, ensuring all language, tone, and messaging is accurate, professional, and tailored to each client, sector, or decision-maker.
  • Leading stakeholders in risk management, identifying and mitigating potential delivery challenges early in the process.
  • Building and maintaining a central library of bid support materials, keeping content up to date and easily accessible to support future tenders.
What do I need to be successful in the role?

We are looking for someone who can bring the below skills and experience to our team;

  • With excellent knowledge of industry best practice, you can create high-quality tenders that meet the expectations of sophisticated customers.
  • Bringing proven bid writing expertise, you have strong technical writing skills and the ability to produce compelling proposal content.
  • Knowing what a winning bid looks like, you can identify potential risks and quickly grasp technical, financial, and legal information in the context of managing and delivering tenders.
  • Experience in bid management or pre-construction enables you to navigate complex tender processes with confidence.
  • Drawing on technical expertise from engineering, commercial, design, or operational roles, you ideally also have knowledge of the street lighting market.
  • Confident in communicating and influencing at senior levels, you take a firm and informed view while constructively challenging when needed.
  • Even under pressure, you remain focused and effective, consistently delivering work to a high standard.
