Milk Education is working with a number of supportive and inclusive primary and secondary schools across Ossett and Wakefield who are looking to recruit dedicated Behaviour Support Workers.
This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and achieve their full potential. Whether your experience comes from education, youth work, care, sports coaching, mentoring, or residential support, we'd love to hear from you.
The RoleAs a Behaviour Support Worker, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to promote engagement and wellbeing
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement tailored behaviour support plans
- Encourage confidence, resilience, independence, and positive decision-making
- Help pupils successfully access learning both inside and outside the classroom
- Promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every pupil can thrive
We welcome applicants who have:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching, or similar settings
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence supporting pupils with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs
- A genuine passion for making a positive difference in young people's lives
Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential-we're looking for people with the right attitude, transferable skills, and commitment to supporting pupils.
