Behaviour Mentor - SEMH & Vocational Learning

Location: Eastleigh, Hampshire

Salary: £21,731 - £25,758 + Up to £2,500 Annual Performance Bonus

Contract: Full Time Permanent Term Time Only

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm (Direct learner contact: 9:00am - 2:30pm)

Start Date: September 2026 (with the opportunity to start sooner by supporting learners within the Hospitality provision)

New Chapter Tuition is proud to be working exclusively with a specialist vocational education provision to recruit a Behaviour Mentor for a full-time, permanent role.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing specialist provision supporting learners from KS3-KS5 with SEMH, ADHD, emotional and behavioural needs, and those who have experienced trauma.

Through practical, hands-on vocational learning, you'll help learners rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and develop the skills they need to succeed in further education, employment and life.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with learners.
  • Support learners on a 1:1 basis and in small groups of up to 8, delivering engaging vocational learning.
  • Support learners with SEMH, ADHD, SEND and additional needs.
  • Use effective de-escalation and positive behaviour management strategies.
  • Create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Promote confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other professionals to achieve positive learner outcomes.

  • Alternative Provision Practitioner

  • Mechanic

To be successful, you'll have:

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supporting children and young people.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for young people.

Experience in mechanics, engineering or vocational learning is desirable but not essential. We are looking for individuals with the right attitude, resilience and commitment to helping young people succeed.
