Job Description

Location: Tower Hamlets
Contract: Full-Time

Milk Education is currently working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Tower Hamlets to recruit a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their pastoral support team on a full-time basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students overcome barriers to learning. The school is committed to creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where every student can thrive both academically and personally.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional, or pastoral support. You will play a key role in promoting positive behaviour, improving engagement, and helping students achieve their full potential.

Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff, and senior leaders, you will support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them develop resilience, confidence, and positive attitudes towards learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring support to students.
  • Build positive and professional relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and personal development.
  • Support students in overcoming barriers to learning, attendance, and behaviour.
  • Work alongside teaching staff to promote positive behaviour and maintain a productive learning environment.
  • Assist with behaviour interventions and pastoral support programmes.
  • Encourage students to develop self-regulation, resilience, and effective coping strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records where required.
  • Support the school's behaviour, safeguarding, and wellbeing policies.
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting the school's values and expectations.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or care setting.
  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • A calm, patient, and professional approach.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students from a range of backgrounds and abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or additional needs would be advantageous but is not essential.
What We Offer
  • Competitive daily rate.
  • Full support from Milk Education throughout your placement.
  • Opportunity to work within a supportive and well-established secondary school.
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
  • Potential for long-term or permanent opportunities.

If you are passionate about supporting young people and helping students achieve success both inside and outside the classroom, we would love to hear from you.
