Job overview

We are seeking a full-time Mammographer to join our radiographic team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust.

  • Provide support to the Mammography service at St Albans City Hospital.
  • Opportunities to rotate through cross-sectional imaging.
  • Potential to work across three sites.

This role is integral to our Radiography team, delivering high-quality radiographic services to Radiologists, patients, and service users.

The successful candidate will also be expected to supervise junior staff and students.

Main duties of the job

The primary responsibility of this role is to be an integral part of the mammography and one-stop breast services at St Albans City Hospital.

You will work closely with the Lead Mammographer, Breast Consultant, Radiology Breast Consultants, and the Radiology management team.

Collaborating with both clinical and non-clinical colleagues, you will ensure the highest quality patient experience while meeting performance standards and targets.

Proven ability to engage with both clinical and non-clinical teams is essential.

Additionally, you will provide support to the wider Radiography department at St Albans, where the role is based.

In the absence of the Lead Mammographer, the post holder will deputise, assisting in delivering the department's strategic and operational priorities.

Person specification Education and qualifications:
  • BSc or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Post graduate certificate/diploma in Mammography.
  • HCPC registration.
  • Management/Leadership qualification or experience.
Knowledge:
  • Proven knowledge base of mammography and NHSBSP.
  • Clinical & information governance and evidence-based practice.
  • Knowledge of change management.
Experience:
  • Evidenced experience in Mammography.
  • Experience of working with other divisions/interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of recent developments with Mammography/Radiology/NHS.
  • Teaching, training, mentoring experience.
