An opportunity has arisen for a trained nursery nurse to join our team in the Neonatal Unit at Watford General Hospital. The Woodland Neonatal Unit is a Level 2 unit (LNU) within the East of England network caring for sick term babies and those born after 27 weeks gestation. In addition, we manage a 6-bed Transitional Care Unit in postnatal ward, caring for mothers and small babies together.
The post holder will be working on a permanent contract for a year in transitional care and in special care nurseries in the neonatal unit. The successful applicant will be expected to be flexible in the area they work on workdays, nights and weekends.
Main duties of the jobThe postholder will be working with multidisciplinary team including the community outreach team to provide a holistic care for all the babies and their families in the neonatal and transitional care unit.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities Education Responsibility- To attend educational sessions and keep updated on new techniques and procedures.
- Maintain annual mandatory requirements (Including safeguarding).
- Participate in the annual Individual Performance Reviews (IPR) and work through action plan with team leader.
- Demonstrate parentcraft techniques to families.
- Provide a suitable learning environment for students.
- BTEC level 3 Diploma in Early Years OR CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education, Level 3 OR NVQ/SNVQ level 3 in Early Years and Education.
- GCSEs English and Maths grade C or above.
- Care Certificate.
- Holds breastfeeding course certificate.
- Basic life support training.
- Evidence of commitment to professional development.
- Knowledge on safeguarding issue.
- Knowledge on infection controls.
- Knowledge on risk and keeping environment safe.
- IT knowledge appropriate to the role.
- Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered health or care professional.
- Knowledge on Badgernet EPR.
- Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Worked in a hospital setting.
- Experience of caring for sick infants.
- Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
