CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time
DEPARTMENT: Chief Customer Officer Group
LOCATION: London Broadcasting House - Hybrid (Monday to Wednesday in the office)
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £45,000 - £60,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join the TV Audience Research team to help shape content for all audiences and support the BBC in delivering its 'value for all' strategy. Currently, this Research Manager position oversees Scripted - Drama & Comedy, and works with the Portfolio team to support future strategy for platforms, content, and archives. You will work closely with Commissioning, Scheduling, Strategy, Marketing, and other Audience teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Deliver key insights for the future planning & strategy of the wider portfolio of channels and iPlayer, and be the genre insight lead for Drama and Comedy teams. Responsibilities may evolve with business needs.
  • Identify market trends and strategic areas for research to inform decision-making across the portfolio, using multiple data sources.
  • Analyze content performance and audience feedback regularly to inform development, re-commissioning, and strategic decisions, supporting content from creation to delivery. This includes identifying research needs, commissioning, and conducting qualitative and quantitative research.
  • Participate in pan-BBC projects, collaborating across audiences to deliver insights that influence audience-led strategies.
  • Maintain high standards of presentation and communication, developing innovative ways to communicate audience insights compellingly.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Proficient in Techedge with extensive knowledge of Barb viewing data; expected to lead the team in advanced Techedge use.
  • Experience delivering quantitative research projects, including survey design, data analysis, and insight communication.
  • Ability to manage complex projects, including qualitative and multisource research.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with senior and creative stakeholders.
  • Effective at managing multiple projects, prioritizing tasks, and adapting to changing stakeholder needs.
  • Experience working across channels or BVOD/SVOD platforms from an audience research perspective.
  • Strong IT skills and understanding of industry or bespoke data sources.

DESIRABLE BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Experience working across Scripted genres.
  • Previous experience at Research Manager level.
