Protocol Education are recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Middlesbrough for a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join their team from September 2026.

The Role

As Attendance Officer, you will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance across the school by:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality.
  • Investigating and following up on absences.
  • Working closely with students, parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Producing attendance reports and analysing attendance data.
  • Supporting attendance improvement strategies and interventions.
  • Maintaining accurate pupil records in line with school policies and statutory requirements.
  • Liaising with pastoral staff and senior leaders to identify and support students at risk of persistent absence.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has previous experience in an attendance, administration, pastoral or safeguarding role within education.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is confident using school management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Can work independently and manage a varied workload.
  • Has strong attention to detail and a professional approach.
  • Is committed to supporting positive outcomes for young people.
