Role: Associate Lecturer - Computing

Location: Bedford College, Bedford

Salary/Benefits: Salary is £21.50 per hour

Hours/Weeks: 7 hours per week

Contract Type: Sessional - Hourly Paid

UK based contract; right to work in the UK required. No sponsorship offered.

About the role

An Associate Lecturer supports students and contributes to curriculum development in the Computing and Digital Technologies department.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching & Delivery - Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality computing courses (L1-L5) inclusive and engaging, meeting awarding body standards.
  • Student Support & Progress - Guide, mentor and monitor students through tutorials, assessment and feedback.
  • Assessment & Quality Assurance - Design and assess work, track performance, maintain records, and ensure compliance with quality standards, verification and moderation processes.
  • Curriculum Development & Engagement - Contribute to innovative teaching, course development, employer links and wider activities.
  • Professional & Organisational Responsibilities - Uphold college values, safeguarding and student experience, complete administrative duties, collaborate with colleagues and support departmental and college-wide initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Qualifications & Professional Credentials - Degree (or equivalent), GCSE English and Maths (Grade A to C or equivalent), recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE), up to date DBS, valid visa status.
  • Teaching & Learning Excellence - Experience of teaching at Level 2, 3 or 4, knowledge of quality assurance systems in FE, ability to deliver high quality learning experiences and support student progress.
  • Core Skills & Competencies - Effective communicator, strong organisational skills, capable of meeting deadlines, confident in IT (Microsoft Office, Teams) and continuous improvement.
  • Personal Attributes & Professional Conduct - Detail oriented, adaptable, resilient under pressure, builds positive relationships, handles sensitive information confidentially, demonstrates leadership and aligns with organisational values.
  • Additional Requirements & Compliance - Flexible, mobile, safeguarding responsibility, holds relevant training such as first aid, safeguarding, EDI, ITQ, meets health and safety expectations.
What is an Associate?

Associates work on a short term basis, teach or provide support services, and are supported by core staff. An Associate agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed.
