We are recruiting to the post of Associate Director of Estates. As the Trust's lead specialist for Estates, you will be responsible for developing and delivery of the Trust's Estates Strategy. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, you will regularly communicate complex multi faceted information in relation to estates, capital and maintenance with senior management across the Trust.
Band 8d £91,342 - £105,337 per annum
Full time 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the jobYou will act as the Trust lead for the management of the PFI contract ensuring the Trust receives the outputs and outcomes as outlined in the contract. You will be a key point of contact with the PFI management to ensure the contract performance is maintained, taking a lead on benchmarking and market testing as and when required.
With significant experience of a senior management role in a complex organisation and a proven track record of delivery within a building and/or engineering environment, you will have strong relationship building and communication skills and above all else you will demonstrate mature leadership skills and have a compassionate and inclusive leadership style. Previous experience of working within a healthcare or public sector environment is desirable.
Additional responsibilities include providing direct management of a multidisciplinary maintenance department and project managing new revenue and capital developments. As budget holder for Estates, you will also produce clear reports for the Board whilst providing technical support to the Estates team.

Job responsibilities- Develop the Estates and Capital Strategic Plan and associated documents to ensure that the Estates team makes the most effective contribution to the delivery of the Trust's strategic objectives.
- Through effective planning, ensure that all Estates and Capital functions adapt to the Trust's changing strategic requirements including identification and implementation of service developments and innovative methods of delivery.
- Oversee the development of positive and proactive short, medium and long term delivery plans and infrastructure replacement plans to ensure the effective operation and maintenance of the estate.
- Ensure that the Head of Estates has effective plans in place for delivery of emergency, urgent and routine repairs on time, according to patient care priorities together with addressing backlog maintenance and, within available resources, ensure the Estate supports delivery of safe and outstanding patient care.
- Define what outstanding means for the Estates function, and work with the team to develop and implement plans to work towards becoming outstanding.
- Contribute to the development of the Trust's corporate strategy, ensuring that Estates and Capital initiatives and priorities are appropriately reflected.
- Extensive experience within the Building, Construction and Management Industry
- Completion of a recognised Engineering Industry Training Board (EITB) or Building Industry Training Board (CITB)
- Experience within an Estates Department
- Masters degree or equivalent
- Has an NHS recognised chartered professional qualification
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of Estates staff in day to day operational activities and provide leadership and strategic direction
- Understands the contracting process and practical management
