Responsible for ensuring the bank adheres to all sanctions, laws and regulations imposed by the United States Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and other sanctions programs, including the Council of the European Union and the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation in the UK.
The role requires strong analytical and problem solving skills and an ability to work effectively with minimal formal structure and in changing environments.
Key Responsibilities- Review and assess escalated sanction wire transactions that alert from the sanction screening systems to determine if they are permissible under OFAC and/or any other applicable jurisdictional sanctions program.
- Conduct quality control of areas performing sanction screening, to assure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and adherence to internal policies and procedures.
- Advise business partners on the sanctions compliance program and applicable laws, regulations, rules and standards, including keeping them informed of developments or changes that may affect their area.
- Identify any compliance sanctions risks associated with the company's activities.
- Collaborate on projects with team members, exhibiting ongoing learning and basic project management skills.
- Consult with management regarding more complex or sensitive investigations.
- Operate independently; apply in depth knowledge of financial crimes; and carry out activities that are large in scope, cross functional and technically difficult.
- Exposure to AML, risk, compliance, sanctions or general banking operations.
- Collaborative approach to work with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organizational skills required to coordinate compliance activities.
