We are inviting applications from senior clinical leaders for the role of Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Partnership Working and Health Inequalities. This is a key leadership position that will support the organisation's strategic priorities around system collaboration, population health, and reducing inequalities.

This 12-month fixed-term role, offered at 3 PAs per week, provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician to contribute to executive-level leadership while maintaining existing clinical commitments. This role is open for applications from SAS, GP's & Consultant grade applicants.

Main duties of the job

The Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Partnership Working and Health Inequalities will provide senior clinical leadership to support the Trust's contribution to reducing health inequalities and delivering the three key shifts set out in the NHS Long Term Plan:

  • Hospital to community
  • Treatment to prevention

The postholder will work collaboratively across the Trust and system partners to support transforming care to deliver high-quality, safe, and patient-centred services, with a focus on equitable access, experience and outcomes for the populations served by Great Western Hospital. This is a portfolio leadership role, suitable for a senior clinician seeking to combine system leadership with ongoing clinical practice.

Job responsibilities
  • Act as a senior clinical leader for partnership working across the ICS, Place, PrimaryCare Networks, local authorities, VCSE organisations and other system partners.
  • Strengthen and support collaborative working with Primary Care and key Voluntary Sector partners.
  • Work closely with the Director of Partnerships and Transformation to ensure that the Trust is represented in relevant ICS, place-based and multi-agency forums relating to population health, prevention and inequalities, with a focus on person-centred care.
  • Strengthen clinical engagement in system redesign initiatives that shift care closer to home and improve integration between hospital and community services.
  • Support the development of shared clinical priorities across organisational boundaries.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Fully registered with the GMC
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Evidence of continuing leadership or managerial development
Experience
  • Senior clinical experience with credibility across professional groups
  • Understanding of health inequalities, population health and system working
  • Experience of partnership working beyond organisational boundaries
  • Strong influencing, communication and leadership skills
  • Previous leadership role within and NHS Trust, ICS or Place-based partnership
