Job Purpose

• The purpose of this role will primarily be to provide operational financial support to Senior Stakeholders in the provision of financial management. The focus will be primarily on in year financial activity. The role is focused around the performance cycle. This role will have responsibility for driving each stage of the performance cycle to ensure Value for Money and optimum use of the Council's resources in delivering its Corporate Plan but will focus on the reporting and analytical stages of the cycle. Leading on the financial advice for building forecasts, tracking performance against benchmarks, budgets and forecasts and supporting the business to make in year operational decisions in managing their budgets.

Job Responsibilities

• Leading on the Reporting and Analytical Review of Financial information in the performance cycle.
• Liaising with budget holders and senior managers to manage their revenue and capital budgets in accordance with financial regulations and good value for money, leading on the provision of advice.
• Leading on the reporting of actuals against budget, benchmarks and forecasts. Providing information and advice that aligns to in year performance on outcomes against financial outcomes to enable the business to change direction, make the most of opportunities or limit risk and threats to the Council's financial sustainability.

Job Requirements

• Part qualified CCAB accountant or AAT qualified with significant experience.
• Extensive experience in accountancy, particularly in the public sector or large organisations.
• Understanding of principles of strong financial management and governance.
