This role is part of the Issue Triage and Support Service, a small team focused on application support for line of business applications, and triaging requests and issues from customers.

Job description

We are looking for customer-focused individuals with keen attention to detail and problem-solving skills. You should take pride in your work and aim to deliver the best outcomes for end users. Good communication skills across all levels of the organisation, self-motivation, and ownership of tasks are essential.

Daily responsibilities include checking core systems, monitoring Service Desk software for logged requests or issues, prioritising responses, communicating with users and colleagues, assisting in troubleshooting, and testing patches.

Core hours are 8am to 5pm, with flexible start and end times depending on team coverage. The role involves participating in a rolling on-call rota with additional allowances, and occasional out-of-hours work, including monthly patching, paid as overtime or time off in lieu.

Salary

Starting at the minimum of the pay band for new entrants. The salary range for this Grade role is £28,927 - £31,132. It is a fixed-term 12-month contract with the potential for permanence.

Working hours

A standard 37-hour week with flexible working policies. The role is based at Temple Quay House, Bristol, currently in alternative office space due to refurbishment, with flexible hybrid working arrangements.

Person specification

We will assess your application against the Essential Criteria:

  • Problem-solving and excellent communication, customer, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience configuring and supporting applications, including system administration
  • Experience managing and monitoring Windows Server 2008 environments
  • Experience using monitoring tools, responding to alerts, and identifying risks
  • Experience triaging and responding to incidents and requests
  • Experience working within SLAs and ITIL processes
  • Awareness of change management processes
  • Ability to work on a rolling on-call rota and occasional out-of-hours work

Desirable criteria include experience with SQL Server Management Studio, MySQL, IT service management tools (preferably ServiceNow), and knowledge of cybersecurity issues.
