Non-Contentious Construction & Engineering Solicitor - Newcastle (Infrastructure & Projects Focus)Location: Newcastle (Hybrid Working Available)Salary: Competitive, plus excellent benefitsPQE: 2-6 years (guide only - all levels considered) A leading national law firm is currently seeking a Construction & Engineering Solicitor to join its expanding team in Newcastle. This opportunity sits within a highly respected non-contentious construction and infrastructure team that advises an impressive client roster, including developers, funders, public sector bodies, and major NHS Trusts. With a strong presence in the infrastructure and residential development sectors, the team has established panel positions with some of the UK's most recognised housebuilders. The team also acts on a wide range of public sector infrastructure projects, including transport (road, rail, and buses), flood defence, and healthcare projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing and collaborative team, with a clear pathway for progression and support from experienced senior lawyers. The firm also offers a genuinely flexible and hybrid working model, a collaborative culture, and a focus on lawyer wellbeing.Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, negotiating, and advising on a variety of construction and engineering contracts, including NEC4-based agreements, frameworks, pre-construction agreements, and bespoke forms.
- Managing your own caseload with appropriate supervision.
- Attending and leading client meetings, and contributing to business development activities.
- Supporting tender proposals and client pitches.
- Supervising junior team members and paralegals.
- Maintaining excellent client service and high technical standards.
- Contributing to knowledge sharing and team training initiatives.
- Qualified solicitor (likely 2-6 PQE, though flexible for the right candidate).
- Experience in construction law is ideal (especially infrastructure-related), but those with strong commercial contracts/projects experience looking to specialise in this area are welcome.
- Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and the confidence to engage with clients at all levels.
- Proactive, organised and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
