Duties for the role of Assistant Town Planner:

• Assisting with the preparation and submission of planning applications
• Undertaking research into planning policy, legislation and guidance
• Reviewing local and national planning policies and identifying their implications for development proposals
• Assisting with planning appraisals and development feasibility assessments
• Supporting the preparation of planning statements, reports and other technical documents
• Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, clients and other stakeholders
• Monitoring planning applications and assisting with the management of project programmes
• Attending meetings, site visits and planning committees where appropriate

Requirements for the role of Assistant Town Planner:

• RTPI Accredited degree within town planning or another related discipline
• Relevant experience within a planning consultancy, local authority or related planning environment, although strong graduates will also be considered
• An understanding of the UK planning system and relevant planning policy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent research, analytical and organisational abilities
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
• Good attention to detail
• Confidence communicating with colleagues, clients and external stakeholders
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn
• A genuine interest in the built environment, development and planning
