Unit 2, Pellon Lane Retail Park, Halifax, HX1 5HQ. 30 hours per week, including weekends on a rota. Salary £12.93 per hour.
We are Sue Ryder - one of the largest charity retailers in the UK, operating over 400 shops. Every item sold supports our hospice and bereavement services. We aim to provide skilled medical, practical, bereavement, and emotional support to people at the end of life or experiencing grief.
About the roleThe Assistant Shop Manager will support day to day operations, lead volunteers, drive sales and maintain high standards of customer service, merchandising and safety.
Key responsibilities- Drive business, push sales and achieve targets.
- Lead a team to deliver great customer service to donors and customers.
- Work with the local community to secure donated stock.
- Recruit, train, and retain a volunteer team.
- Maintain high standards of merchandising and housekeeping, prioritising health and safety.
- Manage effective stock processes and ensure the shop is well merchandised with fresh, seasonal stock.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Sue Ryder, supporting in store campaigns and national fundraising initiatives.
- Manage POS (EPOS) operations.
- Customer service experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Experience with KPIs and targets
- Cash handling / till work
- Basic IT skills (emails, instant messaging, video calls)
- Organisational skills

- High street retail / leisure / hospitality background
