Assistant Payroll Manager

Wantage 3-Month Contract (initially) £17.95ph - £20.51ph

Our client, a large international manufacturing organisation based in Wantage, is seeking an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager to join their team on an initial 3-month contract.

This is a hands on role supporting the delivery of an accurate and efficient payroll service within a busy, fast paced environment. Working closely with the Payroll Manager, you'll play a key role in payroll processing, compliance, employee query resolution, and day to day payroll operations.

Key responsibilities
  • Supporting end to end payroll processing
  • Managing salary changes, overtime, bonuses, and deductions
  • Resolving payroll queries and discrepancies
  • Assisting with HMRC compliance, RTI submissions, and year end activities
  • Preparing payroll reports, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Supporting and guiding payroll team members
Key skills required
  • Previous UK payroll experience is essential
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
  • Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Sage, SAP, or similar
  • Strong Excel and data management skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving abilities
  • The ability to work effectively to tight deadlines
