We are seeking a passionate, experienced, and highly motivated Assistant Manager to join our team. Working closely with the Store Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our coffee shop, driving team performance, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate is a hands on leader with a love for coffee culture, excellent communication skills, and the ability to train staff and manage inventory effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise Staff: Lead baristas and staff during shifts, ensuring high standards of customer service and product quality.
- Training & Development: Train new hires on barista skills, coffee preparation, POS systems, and shop policies.
- Motivate & Coach: Foster a positive work environment, providing ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
- Scheduling: Assist the manager in creating staff schedules and ensuring adequate coverage, particularly during peak hours.
- Day-to-Day Operations: Manage daily opening/closing procedures and ensure the store is clean, well presented, and fully operational.
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels, place supplier orders, and conduct regular inventory counts to minimize waste.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment are maintained and serviced as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Uphold all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
- Customer Excellence: Build relationships with customers and resolve complaints or concerns promptly.
- Driving Sales: Implement marketing initiatives, promote special offers, and drive sales targets.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain expert knowledge of our coffee, tea, and food menu to make recommendations.
- Cash Handling: Oversee cash management, till balancing, and daily bank deposits.
- Financial Reporting: Assist with reporting on daily sales and KPIs, helping to manage labour costs and expenses.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality industry (coffee shop/cafe preferred).
- Barista Skills: Strong hands on knowledge of espresso brewing, milk steaming, and latte art.
- Leadership: Proven capability to lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical Strength: Capable of standing for long periods and lifting heavy items (e.g., milk crates, coffee bags).
