Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent Term Time Only

Start: October 2026

About the Role

We're looking for an ambitious and inspiring Assistant Headteacher - Behaviour, Attitudes & Attendance to join our Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping a positive, inclusive and high performing school culture. This is your opportunity to lead from the front, influence whole school practice and make a lasting impact on pupils' lives.

This role combines leadership, mentorship, and operational responsibility, offering the chance to directly influence pupil outcomes, staff development, and the overall ethos of Hemlock Stone School.

As Assistant Headteacher, you'll take strategic and operational leadership of Behaviour, Attitudes and Attendance, ensuring every pupil is supported to engage, succeed and thrive. You'll work closely with the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher to drive consistency, develop staff and embed systems that promote high expectations, positive behaviour and strong attendance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading whole school strategy for behaviour, attitudes and attendance
  • Embedding consistent systems, routines and expectations across the school
  • Supporting SLT with strategic leadership and day to day operations
  • Line managing and developing staff, driving high performance and accountability
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, families and external partners
  • Monitoring impact and using data to improve pupil outcomes and engagement
  • Contributing to school improvement priorities and whole school development
  • Promoting a culture of respect, inclusion and aspiration
About You

You are a confident and reflective leader who is passionate about improving outcomes and creating positive school environments.

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (desirable)
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in school leadership, behaviour or pastoral roles
  • Strong ability to influence culture and drive improvement
  • Excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills
  • A commitment to continuous professional development

Hemlock Stone School in Stapleford, Nottinghamshire opened in March 2026, and caters for up to 66 pupils, providing a specialist learning environment for young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) and Complex Needs.
