About the School
Founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame in 1869, Notre Dame is a well-established coeducational Catholic Academy and a member of St Joseph's Multi Academy Trust. About the Role
To assist the Head of Year to support the education, development, welfare and safety of students.
• To assist individual students and groups to complete learning activities to support the teacher's approach.
• To encourage students to participate and learn
• To manage student behaviour, follow the behaviour policy and support behaviour (including the manning of reflection, on call and patrol).
• To contribute to and implement IEPs and IBPs.
• To create records of development.
• To monitor individual students' needs and report to the Head of Year/Assistant Headteacher as applicable.
• To follow the Academy's safeguarding policies, procedures and record keeping system (CPOMS).
• To handle general administrative tasks for the year group (including record keeping and monitoring attendance).
• To ensure students' safety at all times, in and out of the classroom.
• To enable students to be included in all aspects of Academy life.
• As appropriate, to ensure programmes of special care are in place.
• Where appropriate, to administer basic first aid and medication in accordance with the Academy's and Local Authority policy.
• To assist in presentation of work and display areas.
To assist with home/Academy liaison.
• To support the educational aims and objectives of the Academy.
• To liaise with SLT, SENCO and external agencies in order to coordinate areas of support as appropriate.
• To be aware of and adhere to the Academy's policies and procedures.
• To support the establishment and maintenance of positive relations with parents/carers, support agencies and students.
• To attend extra-curricular meetings.
• To be aware of data protection and confidentiality issues.
• To complete individual training and development as required.
• To develop the Academy's commitment to equal opportunities. And to promote non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of work undertaken.
To have a knowledge of the contents of the National Curriculum, as appropriate.
• To assist in the planning and delivery of appropriate programmes of work.
• To plan and implement specific support programmes for groups and individuals.
