Job Description
About the RoleNigel Wright are delighted to be supporting a well-established and respected professional services firm in the North West with the appointment of an Assistant Accountant.This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative finance team, offering broad exposure across client accounts and the opportunity to develop technical skills within a structured environment.Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing year-end statutory accounts for a portfolio of clients including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
  • Completing and submitting VAT returns accurately and within required deadlines
  • Preparing personal tax returns (SA100), ensuring accurate calculation of liabilities
  • Producing corporation tax computations and CT600 returns in line with HMRC requirements
  • Acting as a key point of contact for clients, gathering information and responding to queries in a timely and professional manner
  • Supporting audit assignments, including participation in fieldwork and assisting senior team members
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date bookkeeping records using cloud-based accounting systems
  • Identifying potential tax and accounting planning opportunities and raising these with senior colleagues
  • Providing guidance and support to junior team members, contributing to a positive and collaborative team culture
Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role
  • AAT qualification (or actively studying towards AAT/ACCA/CIMA)
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Sage, Xero)
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach
