CALB (Europe) S.A is looking for an Asset Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities
Contract Review (Financial Control)
- Review EPC/engineering contracts and identify financial risks (payment terms, WHT/VAT, milestone linkage, securities, variation exposure)
- Provide clear, actionable financial comments to support project decisions
CAPEX & Capitalization Control
- Track project progress and validate cost capitalization (CIP FA)
- Review quantities / milestones vs. accounting recognition
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and group accounting policies
Budget & Cost Monitoring
- Monitor CAPEX budget vs. actuals
- Reconcile engineering progress with financial data
- Produce variance analysis and flag risks (cost overrun, delay impact)
Government Grants & Audit Support
- Prepare and manage subsidy application materials
- Track milestones, support on-site inspections and external audits
- Ensure compliance with grant conditions
Asset Lifecycle Management
- Manage full lifecycle: construction, capitalization, depreciation, disposal
- Maintain fixed asset register and ensure audit-ready documentation
System & Data Management
- Play power user role of FA in SAP go-alive project
- Maintain SAP asset module (master data, asset classes, capitalization rules)
- Support process standardization and internal control improvements
Requirements
Academic
- Degree in a relevant area.
- 5-10 years in accounting / asset / project finance
- Experience in construction, real estate, or large-scale factory setup (0 1 project preferred)
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of CAPEX control, contract review, and asset accounting
- Familiar with IFRS and project-based accounting logic
- Able to challenge project teams with financial discipline
Local & Practical Exposure
- Experience with Portugal government grants / incentives is a strong plus
- Familiar with EPC or engineering project environment preferred
