Job Description

Academic Registry (AR) is responsible for providing administrative services for students in connection with their programmes of study from registration through progression to award at a University Assessment Board and then graduation.

Staff within AR provide support to underpin the effective operation of teaching across the University, working closely with the academic departments as well as other central services and other staff within the University to underpin the operation of the student life cycle and provide a positive student experience throughout all our areas of operation.

Whilst some areas of the service are student facing, others provide back-office support and are engaged in reporting, process review and systems development. The service continues to develop integrated technological developments in all areas of the student lifecycle from the admissions cycle through to initial registration to progression, award and graduation that allow better access to data, improved data quality and accuracy of returns and ensure that both staff and student user have access to and thus direct ownership of data relating specifically to them.

The activities of the service fall into four main areas of administrative responsibility:

  • Admissions
  • Programme Administration - Lancaster / Carlisle / London
  • Assessment, Awards including the Ceremonies Office
  • Student Data and System Management
  • Apprenticeship team

You will be expected to undertake aspects of operational services to support, primarily, the progression and award related policies, procedure and processes for the University. This will include systems and procedural practices for in supporting the student journey through to progression, award and graduation. You will also be expected to contribute to the effective operation of the wider Assessment and Awards Team (A & A) by providing administrative support and guidance, when required, to the APL (Accredited Prior Learning), student policies and compliance activities within the A & A Team. You will have to appropriately liaise on assessment board and procedure matters with other colleagues, external agencies, key stakeholders and other customers.
