Job Title: Art & Design Teacher
Location: Glebedale School, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 3AY
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Rota: Monday 8.00am - 4.00pm Tuesday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent Term Time Only
Start: March 2026

About the Role
At Glebedale School, creativity is more than a subject - it's a powerful way for pupils to explore ideas, express emotions and develop confidence.
We're looking for a passionate Art & Design Teacher who can bring energy, imagination and inspiration to the classroom. In this role, you'll help pupils discover their creative voice while developing the artistic skills, resilience and pride that come from creating something truly their own.
As our Art & Design Teacher, you'll deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that encourage pupils to experiment with different materials, techniques and ideas. You'll create a safe and supportive environment where learners feel confident to take creative risks, celebrate individuality and develop their artistic abilities.
Working alongside a supportive team, you'll also contribute to the wider creative life of the school, helping pupils experience the joy and confidence that comes from artistic achievement.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering engaging Art & Design lessons across a range of media
- Encouraging creativity, experimentation and self-expression
- Developing pupils' technical and creative skills
- Adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
- Creating an inclusive classroom environment where every pupil feels valued
- Tracking and recording progress, assessment and achievement
- Supporting pupils towards accredited qualifications where appropriate
- Contributing to wider creative opportunities and enrichment activities across the school
Who We're Looking For
You are a creative and reflective practitioner who believes every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed.
You will have:
- QTS or QTLS (Qualified Teacher Status / Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills)
- Experience teaching Art & Design
- A passion for inclusive, pupil-centred education
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Experience working within SEN or alternative provision (desirable but not essential)
