Archivist Your work environment The Archives of Modern Construction (ACM) at EPFL is a reference center for architectural history and construction in French-speaking Switzerland and beyond. At the Faculty of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering (ENAC), ACM holds exceptional archival collections, including correspondence, plans, models, and photographs from architectural firms, engineers, and construction companies from the 20th century to the present. Within a multidisciplinary team and a stimulating academic environment, you will play a central role in the management, processing, enhancement, and dissemination of these collections to researchers, students, and the public.Missions Management and logistics of collections - Ensure the reception and control of new archival entries and contribute to their organization, particularly in terms of increases. - Manage physical and digital storage in compliance with preventive standards. - Ensure the proper maintenance of inventories and the integrity of collections. - Coordinate the movements of documents (loans, returns). - Supervise and support interns and auxiliary staff in the management and processing of collections. Processing of collections - Proceed with sorting, description, and classification of collections according to applicable archival standards (ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), RiC concepts). - Develop and write research tools (inventories, directories). - Work closely with the digital archivist to ensure coherence between intellectual processing, description, and access to collections. - Develop and implement actions for promotion and dissemination of archives (exhibitions, events). - Contribute to the policy of openness and accessibility of archives to the public and the scientific community. - Participate in the development of online resources and the digital dissemination of collections. - Collaborate on research projects and pedagogical initiatives related to the preserved collections. Support for researchers and students - Welcome and guide researchers and students in their use of the archives. - Respond to information requests and provide archival expertise. - Collaborate with EPFL faculty and researchers concerning collections in academic curricula. Your profile and experience - Bachelor's or Master's degree in information sciences or a Master's in archival science (ALIS) or an equivalent title. - Confirmed professional experience in archives and in processing collections. Knowledge of architectural or construction domains in French-speaking Switzerland is considered an asset. - Mastery of archival standards and guidelines (ISAD(G), ISAAR(CPF), RiC concepts). - Experience with archival management software or equivalents. - Sensitivity to digital and online dissemination issues. - Knowledge of copyright and intellectual property rights as applied to archives. Personal qualities - Rigor, methodical approach, and attention to detail. - Excellent communication skills with a diverse audience (researchers, students, the general public). - Strong interest in access to and promotion of archives. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Languages - French: working language, C1 level required. - English: B1 level. - German: appreciated.
