Architect (Data Platform), £100k + 10% bonus

Great opportunity for an Architect with experience of designing and building Data Platforms to join a leading FinTech business in Manchester at the beginning of a major modernisation of its data landscape.

About the team

You'll join an established Data Platform team delivering strategic solutions using an agile approach.

Built on a modern cloud estate with Snowflake and Azure at its core, the team is expanding its capabilities to meet wide ranging business needs.

You'll collaborate across architecture, engineering, and business domains, contributing to the organisation's enterprise wide architecture vision.

About the role

As Data Platform Architect, you'll have real autonomy and will work across 5 squads of 40 people in total to help shape and evolve the architectural roadmap for a rapidly scaling data platform.

This is a player coach role, so although it has a strategic focus, you should also be comfortable collaborating with engineering teams and being hands on to help build out POCs.

Required skills

• Proven experience architecting and scaling Snowflake based data platforms in Azure
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures (Data Mesh, Fabric, Lakehouse, ELT)
• Knowledge of data governance frameworks (e.g., DCAM)
• Strong communicator with experience in agile, cross functional delivery
• Excellent problem solving, autonomy, and commitment to engineering best practice
• Collaborative mindset and continuous learning approach
• Financial services or regulated industry exposure
• Docker / Snowpark
• Streaming tech (Kafka, Event Hub)
