Apprenticeship Skills Coordinator (Technical Construction & Civil Engineering)

Location: New College Durham
Contract: Temporary, until permanent vacancies are filled
Hours: 3-4 days per week (22.2-29.6 hours per week)
Pay:£17.62 per hour including holiday pay

We are currently recruiting an Apprenticeship Skills Coordinator to support New College Durham's School of Advanced Manufacturing. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced apprenticeship professionals, trainers, assessors, coaches, or mentors with knowledge of Construction, Technical Construction, Civil Engineering, or apprenticeship delivery.

The Role

As an Apprenticeship Skills Coordinator, you will support Level 3 and Level 4 apprentices throughout their apprenticeship journey, helping them develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to successfully achieve their qualification and progress within their industry.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting apprentices with evidence collection both on and off the job
  • Conducting progress reviews and monitoring learner achievement against targets
  • Maintaining accurate learner records, including e-portfolio systems and off-the-job training records
  • Providing coaching, mentoring, advice, and guidance to apprentices throughout their programme
  • Working closely with employers to support apprentice development and maintain positive working relationships
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of apprenticeship standards, Gateway preparation, and End Point Assessment processes
  • Assisting with individual learning plans and action planning to support learner success
  • Participating in employer engagement, apprentice recruitment activities, and college events
What We're Looking For
  • Experience working with apprentices, young people, or adults in a teaching, coaching, training, or mentoring environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with learners and employers
  • Experience monitoring learner progress and maintaining accurate records
  • Ability to organise and manage workloads effectively while meeting deadlines
  • Confidence using ICT systems and digital learning platforms
  • English and Maths at Level 2 (GCSE Grade C/4 or above) or equivalent
  • Vocational knowledge or experience within Construction, Built Environment, Technical Construction, or Civil Engineering is desirable
  • Assessor qualification (A1, D32/D33 or equivalent) is desirable
  • Experience managing an apprenticeship caseload is desirable
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
