We are currently recruiting for three Apprentice Handyperson roles across the London North region. As an Apprentice you'll carry out a range of basic repairs, maintenance and improvement tasks across L&Q properties, helping to ensure homes and communal areas are safe, well maintained, and provide a positive experience for residents.
L&Q's Handy person Property Maintenance apprenticeships will be offered within the following areas this year:
- North - Enfield, Barnet, Haringey, Camden, Islington, Hackney, Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith & Fulham
- North East - Waltham Forest, Redbridge and Havering
- West - Brent, Harrow, Ealing, Hillingdon, Hounslow, Slough, Reading, Basingstoke
As an Apprentice Handyperson, you will receive training to enable you to support the team in providing a first-class service to our customers. You will be expected to assist in a broad range of fundamental trade skills, including carpentry, joinery, plumbing, plastering, brick and block work, external works. You will also be doing associated finishing trades, including tiling, painting, and decorating.
The successful candidates will be working under instruction and supervision. With the aim for being about to eventually taking responsibility for their own work (where appropriate, and within their assessed abilities and skill set). This will include carrying out day to day repairs, working with wood based materials and associated products to learn to create and install building components assisting with installations and repairs.
This role offers a 2.5 year fixed term contract during which time you will undertake a Level 2, Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship.

- GCSEs in English and Maths, Grade C / Grade 4 or above preferred but not essential
- Must be able to work in the UK
- To qualify for apprenticeship funding, the individual must have a valid and eligible residency status. This usually requires residency in the UK for at least 3 years prior to the start of the apprenticeship
