Job Description
Apprentice Plumber Programme

Our Apprentice Plumber Programme offers a blend of personal and professional development, exposing you to the core of our business.

You will gain practical experience across several teams, developing your knowledge of Severn Trent's processes. This role involves regular operational travel across the North, covering Hull, Catterick, Leeds, Bradford, and Richmond; when not travelling you will be based at home.

Work pattern: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7am - 3.30pm / 7am - 3pm / 8am - 4pm.

Driving licence: A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are required before starting this role. Some sites are in remote locations and not serviced by public transport.

What you will learn
  • Plumbing Skills - install, maintain, and repair systems.
  • Water Treatment & Legionella Monitoring - keep water safe and clean using modern techniques.
  • Remedial Project Management - plan and deliver real solutions.
  • Chemical Treatment & Dosing - use chemicals to keep water systems healthy and compliant.
  • Teamwork & Communication - work alongside experienced professionals to deliver projects from start to finish.

Entry Criteria

This apprenticeship standard is Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE A C or Grades 4 9). If you do not already have GCSEs in English and maths, you will need to take functional skills as part of the apprenticeship, which is an alternative to GCSEs. This must be achieved prior to completion of the apprenticeship.
