We are currently looking for aPainting and Decorating Apprentice to join our award-winning apprenticeship scheme that could help you achieve your goals whilst also making a positive impact on otherpeople'slives.
Starting rate:£9.03per hour (£18,312 per annum)
Qualified rate: £16.86 per hour(£34,192 per annum)
You'llalso have opportunities to progress after your apprenticeship, through routes such as ourTrainee Surveyor ProgrammeandTrainee Contracts Manager Programme.
What's the apprenticeship all about?As an Apprentice at Ian Williams,you'lllearn on the job, gaining handsâ€'on experience while studying at college.You'llbe supported by experienced tradespeople, including your own dedicated mentor, and work towards mastering your chosen trade.
What will you be doing?Your work will vary from contract to contract, buthere's an ideaof whatyou'llbe up to:
Working on projects such as social housing, heritage buildings, defenceand schools.
Covering areas including (but not limited to):Portsmouth, Dorset, Salisbury, Bournemouth andSouthampton
Locations may vary depending on contracts, and you may occasionally travel further afield. We will help with transport where possible
Depending on your home address, we will usually arrange a convenient collection point for you and a member of our team. This will be discussed during your interview
Preparing surfaces (filling, sanding, caulking)
Mastering the art of paint application (rolling, cutting in, brush skills)
Sprucing up gloss work (doors and window frames, skirtings)
Getting outdoors with external works (railings, sheds,fencesand walls)
Exploring different sites, working both inside and outside in all weather, whetherit'sgetting hot in the homes, or wrapping up in the winter on a commercial site
You'llalso:
Attend college to understand the "how and why" of your trade (usually 1 day a week)
Build an awesome portfolio of evidence for your End Point Assessment†(EPA)
Be a valued team member and contribute to our overall success
No prior experience needed! Just bring:
A genuine passion forpainting and decorating andpractical,hands-on work
A positive attitude and problem-solvingmindset
Commitment to building your career at Ian Williams -we'reas committed to you as you are to us
Strong organisational skills (to juggle college and work)
GCSE (or equivalent) grade 1(G) or above in Maths andEnglish
Eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis(we are unfortunatelyunableto sponsor visas)
