Join our dynamic and forward thinking team at HMS as an Apprentice Joiner, where you will gain practical experience and develop valuable skills, working towards an NVQ Level 2 qualification. This is a 24 month apprenticeship. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to their assigned college (City of Liverpool College) or workplace as required.

- Learn to carry out a range of internal and external joinery tasks using various materials, including plastics and composites.
- Train in the safe and correct use of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Develop skills to plan and organise work effectively within set timeframes and standards.
- Gain experience working within scheduled appointments and liaising with customers and team members.
- Learn how to assess repair needs, take accurate measurements, and make informed decisions within contract guidelines.
- Use IT systems for communication, completing work orders, and ordering materials.
- Train to manage vehicle stock efficiently and minimise waste.
- Understand and follow health and safety regulations, reporting any incidents or breaches.
- Work with internal teams and contractors to ensure jobs are fully completed and well coordinated.
- Meet required standards for workmanship, customer service, and performance targets.
- Participate in training, development, and competency programmes.
- Attend college and complete all apprenticeship assessments.
- Support wider team activities and carry out additional duties as required.
- English and Maths GCSE at Grade 4 (C) or above, or Functional Skills Level 1 or Level 2 (or equivalent). For mature learners (19+/21+), entry requirements may be applied flexibly and GCSEs may be waived where candidates can demonstrate significant construction experience and/or site supervisory responsibilities. In such cases, suitability may be assessed through a skills assessment and/or professional discussion, and Functional Skills in English and/or Maths may still be required depending on individual circumstances.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an assessment day to further evaluate their skills and suitability for the apprenticeship. Assessment day will take place on 19th June 2026 at City of Liverpool College.
College or Training OrganisationAll our Joiner apprentices are enrolled in City of Liverpool College.
Your Training PlanYou will receive both on the job and off the job training over the course of 24 months, following a detailed induction and training plan. You will attend college on a day release basis. Upon successful completion, you will earn the Level 2 Qualification in Carpentry and Joinery.
During Your ApprenticeshipYou will work across our three main vibrant heartlands - Liverpool, Warrington, and St Helens and surrounding areas, where you'll rotate through a variety of dynamic workstreams, gaining hands on experience and building a broad foundation of knowledge along the way.
