With guidance and supervision from more senior staff within the team, typical duties of the apprentice will include the following:

• Producing civil & structural engineering drawings and 3D models using Autocad & Revit
• Reviewing and marking up design drawings for the CAD/Revit technicians and checking for quality
• Performing basic structural engineering hand calculations for load takedown, element sizing and lateral stability of structures
• Undertaking finite element analysis of structures using computer software such as Tekla Structural Designer & Robot Structural Analysis
• Participating in site surveys to record existing buildings and site visits required to monitor construction
• Assisting with report writing such as Flood Risk Assessments, Sustainable Drainage Strategies and Structural Design Reports, for example
• Assisting with the administration of projects including issuing drawings and other design documents, filing and processing incoming information, writing fee proposals and monitoring project expenditure
• Progression of Student Membership to the Institution of Civil Engineers and/or Institution of Structural Engineers
