When you join us as an apprentice, you will complete an apprenticeship course relevant to the role, to suit your current education level. At the end of the programme, you will gain a nationally recognised qualification in this field as well as learning the practical skills and hands on experience doing the job.
We offer apprenticeships from level 3 to a degree level apprenticeship fully funded by Galliford Try, tailored to your current education level and course entry requirements.
This role is available for a September 2026 start, with the possibility of an earlier start date to suit yourself and the business.
What could your day look like?
We are currently looking for an Apprentice Production Operative - Control Panel Assembler to join our production team. You will learn how to build, wire, and test industrial control panels used across a wide range of automation and manufacturing environments. Working alongside experienced engineers and technicians, you'll gain hands on skills in electrical assembly, technical drawing interpretation, and safe workshop practices.
As Apprentice Control Panel Assembler you will:
- Assist in the assembly and wiring of electrical control panels in line with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
- Support the installation of components such as terminals, relays, PLCs, and circuit breakers.
- Carry out basic mechanical assembly tasks, including drilling, tapping, and fitting components.
- Assist with panel modifications and rework activities when required.
- Support testing activities, including continuity checks and basic functional testing under supervision.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in accordance with Health & Safety standards.
- Ensure tools and equipment are used correctly and report any faults or issues.
- Participate in training sessions and college learning as part of the apprenticeship programme.
- Follow company procedures, quality standards, and work instructions at all times.
As part of the apprenticeship programme you will be expected to work in and around the location advertised, with the possibility for expanding travel to other projects and locations in the future. This may include staying away from home.

What are we looking for?
