Apprentice Building Surveyor

As an apprentice, you will assist an experienced team in operating a full range of building surveying instructions on various commercial properties, including offices, retail, and industrial spaces.
This is full-time, on-the-job training, requiring attendance at external events and forums. The program lasts a minimum of 57 months, during which you will complete your BSc in Building Surveying and receive support through your APC, aiming to become a RICS-accredited chartered building surveyor. The University College of Estate Management (UCEM) oversees this process.
The first 6 months involve working full-time from the office.
WHAT MATTERS MOST IN THIS ROLEInstructions are generally split equally between professional and contract work, mainly related to existing buildings with landlord or tenant aspects.
Contract work ranges from £10k to £2.5 million, involving roles such as designer, contract administrator, project manager, or a combination. We also manage multi-discipline teams for instructions typically between £2.5 million and £20 million. The work is split about 50:50 between property management and client-focused projects without management briefs.
Our clients include large institutional firms and property companies like Threadneedle, BlackRock, CBRE Global Investors, and others.
Our internal CAD team handles most drawing work, but we aim to give all building surveyors diverse experiences to develop well-rounded skills.
Duties will include:
Professional tasks such as Schedule of Dilapidations, pre-acquisition surveys, party wall awards, defect diagnosis, maintenance reports, reinstatement cost assessments, retail delivery, and schedule of conditions.
Pre-requisites
Applicants should have obtained 96 UCAS tariff points (2017 Tariff) or 230 UCAS tariff points (2016 Tariff), or an equivalent qualification.
