Type: Hybrid - 2 days on site, near north station

This is a *Brussels* based role with an excellent immediate start within a Global Consulting company working on *organising and monitoring interventions and service activities*.

About the Role

Our public sector client manages a portfolio of stable applications that require minimal maintenance and only a limited number of new evolutions.

Because of this controlled environment, we are looking for two experienced Functional Analysts who are ready to take on broader responsibility and grow into the role of Application Manager for a selection of these applications. The two managers will act as each other's backup.

As Application Manager, you will be the first point of contact for the client's application owners regarding questions, evolutions, and escalations. You coordinate interventions, follow up with stakeholders, and ensure smooth operational service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Application & Service Management

  • Act as primary contact for the client's application administrators.

  • Organize and monitor interventions and service activities.

  • Manage planned evolutions and releases (ALM tools: Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).

  • Handle 3rd-line (and occasional 2nd-line) incident management

  • Note: end-user functional support is not part of the role.

  • Execute problem management toward long-term structural improvements.

  • Manage and follow up service requests and work orders.

  • Support operational and exploitation-related projects.

  • Request and coordinate operational tasks with other internal teams.

Client Communication & Governance

  • Facilitate quarterly service review meetings with the client:
  • Incident and work item overview
  • Feedback and lessons learned from P1/P2 incidents
  • SLA performance (availability, performance, response times)
  • Project status updates
  • Improvement proposals & action tracking
  • Capacity & life cycle planning

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain up-to-date functional and technical documentation, service agreements, and CMDB references.

  • Share application knowledge with team members.

  • Coordinate with multiple technical teams and stakeholders.

Functional Expertise

Given the limited scope of the applications, the Application Manager is expected to:

  • Develop deep functional understanding of the applications.

  • Answer functional questions independently.

  • Perform functional analyses for new requests or incidents.

Your Profile

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of open-source applications and Agile methodologies.

Experience with mainstream technologies:

  • Java (custom development), Oracle/PostgreSQL

  • Adobe

  • Web Servers: Tomcat, BEA Weblogic, Apache

  • Cognos

  • Spring/Struts

Additional technologies:

  • .NET with MS SQL
  • Drupal
  • APIGEE
  • REST interfaces
  • PeopleSoft CRM
  • ServiceNow (SaaS)
  • Broad functional skill set with focus on open-source platforms.
  • Bonus: practical experience with ServiceNow and/or PeopleSoft service desk processes.
  • Strong general IT knowledge and basic project management skills.
  • Familiarity with system engineering activities on at least one platform (Unix/Linux/Windows, Middleware, security, networking, AD/LDAP, email, SharePoint, etc.).
  • Understanding of modern security requirements for enterprise applications.
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL (incident, problem, change, configuration management).
  • Experience with ALM and Atlassian tooling (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
