We are working on behalf of a large public sector organisation to recruit an experienced Applications Analyst to join a forward-thinking IT and Digital team. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting and enhancing critical business applications that enable vital community services.
You'll work in a hybrid environment, supporting a wide range of enterprise and line-of-business systems, contributing to digital transformation initiatives, and ensuring applications remain robust, secure and fit for purpose.
The Role
Reporting to the Applications Management Lead, the Applications Analyst will:
- Support the design, development, testing, implementation and ongoing improvement of business applications
- Act as a subject matter expert on applications, providing advice and guidance across IT and wider service areas
- Deliver application-related project work, upgrades and system changes in line with organisational priorities
- Investigate and resolve complex application issues, working closely with internal teams and external suppliers
- Contribute to incident, problem, change and release management processes (ITIL aligned)
- Support application integrations, database activities and batch processing as required
- Produce clear technical documentation, policies and procedures
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and external partners
Key Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in an IT applications development and/or support role
- Strong background supporting business systems within a large, complex organisation
- Experience delivering or supporting projects across applications, databases and infrastructure
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure including operating systems, databases and integrations
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Experience working with suppliers and third-party support providers
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management)
Qualifications (or equivalent experience)
- Relevant IT or technical qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience
- Project management training or experience
- ITIL Foundation (or equivalent practical experience)
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support system changes or upgrades.
