Description Professional Services Consultant (API Integration Specialist)

Location: Hybrid (North of England HQ / UK-wide flexibility)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits + Hybrid Working
Sector: Software Solutions Systems Integration Technology Consulting

About the Company

Our client is an established UK software and technology business that delivers complex, data-driven solutions to organisations across the UK. They specialise in helping enterprise and public service clients digitise their operations, modernise legacy systems, and connect data across multiple platforms through innovative software products and services.

With strong growth and a highly regarded technical team, they're seeking a Professional Services Consultant to play a key role in helping customers integrate their systems using modern API frameworks and best practice integration approaches.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting role at the crossroads of technology and consultancy - ideal for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges while engaging directly with clients.

As a Professional Services Consultant, you'll act as a trusted advisor to customers, understanding their systems, challenges, and data needs, before helping them design and deliver integration solutions that connect seamlessly with the company's core applications. You'll be involved in a broad range of projects - from new implementations to bespoke integrations - using APIs to ensure smooth data exchange and interoperability across diverse platforms.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Leading technical discussions with client stakeholders to understand system landscapes and integration requirements.
  • Designing and advising on scalable API based integration strategies, with a focus on RESTful APIs but awareness of others such as SOAP, GraphQL, and OData.
  • Configuring and testing API interfaces, ensuring performance, data quality, and security compliance.
  • Acting as the key technical bridge between customer IT teams and internal development/product teams.
  • Translating business requirements into clear, practical technical solutions and documentation.
  • Supporting the delivery of software implementations and ensuring successful onboarding of new clients.
  • Helping shape API best practices and contributing to continuous improvement across the Professional Services function.
Your Background
  • Experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Integration Consultant, or similar client facing technical role.
  • Strong working knowledge of APIs - including REST and a solid grasp of common data formats (JSON, XML, CSV).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and map data flows between systems.
  • Confident communicator with excellent client facing and documentation skills.
  • Analytical thinker who can identify challenges and design pragmatic technical solutions.
  • Experience working within software vendors, SaaS environments, or system integration projects.
  • Familiarity with API testing/documentation tools such as Postman, Swagger, or Azure API Management.
  • Knowledge of cloud environments, data transformation, or middleware integration tools.
  • Exposure to sectors such as utilities, local government, infrastructure, or enterprise service management.
  • SQL or scripting experience advantageous but not essential.
What's in It for You
  • Join a stable, growing technology business with a collaborative, down-to earth culture.
  • Work on technically interesting projects that genuinely improve how organisations operate.
  • Flexible, hybrid working with strong work life balance.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Ongoing technical and professional development support.
