We are currently recruiting for an experienced Animal Science Lecturer to join a leading Further Education college in London. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Animal Science professional to join an established curriculum team on a temporary, ongoing basis.
The RoleYou will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and assessment across BTEC Level 1 to Level 3 Animal Science programmes, including Animal Care and Animal Management courses.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Teaching and assessing Animal Science from Level 1 through to Level 3.
- Delivering a range of Animal Science and Animal Husbandry units.
- Teaching across associated Animal Care and Animal Management BTEC programmes.
- Acting as a course tutor and supporting students with their academic progress and wider learning needs.
- Preparing high-quality lessons, course documentation and assessment materials.
- Supporting internal moderation and quality assurance processes.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records.
- Liaising with employers, universities and awarding bodies.
- Supporting students in securing and completing mandatory work experience.
- Contributing to the development and coordination of new and existing courses.
- Supporting students to develop their English and Maths skills within the curriculum.
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, equality, health and safety and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in Animal Science, Animal Care, Animal Management or a related discipline, together with experience of teaching or training in the subject.
Essential requirements:- An Honours Degree in Animal Science, Zoology or a relevant subject.
- A teaching qualification or willingness to gain one.
- Experience teaching or training Animal Science-related subjects.
- Ability to teach and assess Animal Science effectively up to Level 3.
- Experience supporting students as both a subject teacher and course tutor.
- Good understanding of course specifications, assessment and quality assurance processes.
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with employers, universities and awarding bodies.
- A commitment to supporting student achievement and delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
