About the RoleThis exciting role is perfect for someone with strong expertise in animal biology, anatomy & physiology, genetics, and practical laboratory skills, who is eager to share their knowledge and inspire the next generation of animal care professionals. Combining practical, hands on work with teaching and learner support, you'll play a key role in helping students develop the skills, confidence, and enthusiasm needed for a successful career in the animal sector.
As part of this position, you'll combine hands on laboratory work with inspiring classroom delivery, helping students develop their practical scientific skills while sharing your expertise in animal biology, anatomy, and laboratory techniques.
Based at Duchy College, we are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our dynamic Animal Management teaching team. This role involves teaching and assessing learners across a range of animal related subjects in both classroom and practical settings, with a particular focus on the Level 3 Animal Management T Level programme. You will play a key role in delivering engaging and innovative learning experiences that inspire students and support them to achieve their full potential.

Skills & ExperienceWe are looking for candidates with broad experience in the animal industry and a very hands on approach. Knowledge in specific species would be preferred as our animal collection is broad and we need expertise to match.
Animal Science based qualifications at a minimum level 4 or above are required. A teaching qualification is desirable.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who also has a teaching qualification (or experience of teaching/mentoring) and an assessor qualification; however we would also love to hear from people with a passion for the sector and who want to be part of educating young people. It is essential to be willing to work towards a teaching qualification if one is not currently held.
Hours of WorkThis is a part time position of 22.5 hours per week. The successful candidate will be required to work on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
