Job Description

Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant - Stockport - Age Range: 11-16 - Salary: £100+ per day - Contract: Full-time/Part-time/Flexible

Overview

We are seeking a resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. The role supports pupils with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs through a trauma informed approach, working closely with teachers and therapists to create a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in classroom and pastoral settings
  • Apply trauma informed practices to aid emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning and intervention strategies
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
  • Support pupils in developing social skills, resilience, and self confidence
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents and carers to support holistic development
Qualifications & Experience
  • Passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs
  • Patient, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent
  • Skilled or willing to develop skills in trauma informed practice
  • Resilient and calm under pressure
  • Strong communication skills, able to build meaningful relationships
  • Experience in education, care, youth work or a similar field (desirable but not essential)

This is a temporary position unless stated otherwise. Salary / Pay Rate will be dependent on your skills and experience.
