Job Description
CG GENERALIST - SURFACING & LOOK DEVELOPMENT

Full Dome / Immersive Media Production Remote Dublin-Based Production Immediate Start through November

Algorithm is a Dublin-based production company creating immersive media for hemispherical Full Dome projection. We are looking for a mid-level CG Generalist with a specialism in surfacing, look development, and rendering to join us immediately on a contract through early November. Working under the Digital Imaging Supervisor, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the visual quality of assets and environments across the production - ensuring everything holds up under the scrutiny of a large-format immersive screen.

Responsibilities
  • Lead surfacing and look development for characters, assets, and environments across the production.
  • Build and maintain shaders and materials in Redshift, establishing a consistent visual language that serves the project's aesthetic.
  • Work closely with the Digital Imaging Supervisor to define and uphold the look of the production from asset through final render.
  • Set up and execute lighting and rendering for environments and asset-heavy shots, optimising for quality and render efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the broader CG team on asset integration, ensuring surfaces, materials, and environments read correctly in context.
  • Maintain clean, well-organised scene and asset files; adhere to production naming conventions and handoff standards.
  • Contribute generalist CG support across other areas of the pipeline as capacity allows.
What You Bring
  • 3-5 years of CG production experience in animation, VFX, or immersive media.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Maya, with particular depth in surfacing, asset work, and environment assembly.
  • Demonstrable Redshift expertise in shading, look development, lighting, and rendering - a portfolio showing environment and asset work is essential.
  • A sharp eye for material quality, surface detail, and how assets read under varied lighting conditions and at large scale.
  • Comfortable working as a generalist beyond your specialism - able to contribute across the pipeline when needed.
  • Reliable and self-directed in a remote environment; able to take direction well and adapt to evolving production needs.
  • Prior dome or wide-format experience is not required.
Engagement Details
  • Location: Fully Remote. Dublin-based production; overlap with Irish working hours (GMT/IST) expected.
  • Engagement: Project contract, immediate start through early November.
  • Reports To: Digital Imaging Supervisor.

We are an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
